SUBSEQUENT INJURY BENEFITS TRUST FUND

Friendly Conversation
What is SIBTF?

SIBTF, which stands for Subsequent Injuries Benefits Trust Fund, is a fund established and managed by the California Division of Workers’ Compensation. It serves as an additional compensation source for injured workers who have preexisting disabilities or impairments at the time of their subsequent injury. In SIBTF cases, the injured worker's Workers' Compensation claim combines both the preexisting and subsequent injuries, and the total disability must be 70% or higher. There are two qualifying thresholds known as "35% or 5% opposite an corresponding," which can be multiplied by the Whole Person Impairment (WPI) factor of 1.4.
